AMATORSKI

After a hiatus of several years, Amatorski is set to release its new album Curves and Bends, Things Veer on March 1, 2024, once again on the Crammed Discs label. The album, titled after Timothy Morton’s book All Art is Ecological, moves from interpersonal relationships to an exploration of the relationships between humans and nature, time and phenomena, drawing inspiration from Taoist poetry (translated by Ursula K. Le Guin) and the works of Anna Tsing, among others. Recent world events, such as the pandemic, climate change and the “Black Lives Matters” protests in 2020, also influenced the album’s creation.

For the album’s live performance, visual artist Winnie Claessens creates various miniature installations using (natural) objects, materials or textures. In collaboration with set designer Lucas Van Haesbroeck, a scenography is created with the installations, cameras and projections. The live performance explores the album spatially and sets up its own research between man, nature, technology and phenomena, interwoven with the live performance of Amatorski’s music.

ALEX LESAGE

Alex Lesage is an independent keyboardist and electronic music producer.
Finalist in the circuit 2022 competition,
his music is a playful combination of electro, IDM, experimental hip-hop and jazz. Alex’s main focus is on keyboard experimentation and sound design work, particularly using analog synths. Most of his work is influenced by improvisation.

Influenced by the work of modern artists such as Max Cooper, Rival console and even Flume, Alex Lesage’s musical identity is also a minimalist search for both sound and visual work.
He is accompanied on stage by Max Hilpert on drums.
