Patrick\r\nCodenys (keyboards) and Jean-Luc De Meyer (vocals) join the band for the first album \u00ab Geography \u00bb in\r\n(1982), followed by Richard 23 (vocalist\/stage performer) in 1983.\r\nWhile developing their own independent recording and graphic units, along with a unique presentation on\r\nstage, the band progressively reaches a larger audience in Europe, touring and releasing records of its brand\r\nnew genre they soon label \u00ab Electronic Body Music (aka EBM) \u00bb. EBM being a collage and synthesis of music\r\nand sounds, recycled from the media or TV, often reflecting or enriched by other artistical disciplines. In 1984\r\nFront 242 sign on the label Wax Trax from Chicago. The EP \u00ab Take One \u00bb (1984) is their first US release, their\r\nsuccess there will be massive.\r\nGaining experience in large European festivals and US shows from 1985, the band establishes itself as a very\r\npowerful live group, and EBM spreads across Europe. The albums \u00ab No Comment \u00bb (1985), \u00ab Official\r\nVersion \u00bb (1987) and \u00ab Front By Front \u00bb (1988, including HeadHunter and Welcome to Paradise) seal Front\r\n242\u2019s international breakthrough and its status of an innovative and pioneering band.\r\nFront\u2019s vision continues to evolve toward fuller maturity after the acclaimed album \u00ab Tyranny For You \u00bb\r\n(1991). The two next albums, \u00ab 06:21:03:11 Up Evil \u00bb and \u00ab 05:22:09:12 Off \u00bb (1993) break through the\r\nclassical Front formula to bring in new vocalists, live guitars and drums, along with a new producer, Andy\r\nWallace (Nirvana, Sonic Youth). This begins redistributing roles and rules within the group, while retaining\r\nthe scope of invention and the radical attitude that goes along with Front 242\u2019s music.\r\nDuring a 4 year hiatus (1993-1997), the band releases the albums \u00ab Live Code \u00bb, recorded during their last\r\nworld tour, and \u00ab Mut@ge - Mix@ge \u00bb, a compilation album where The Prodigy, The Orb, Underworld, Rico\r\nConning and others propose innovative mixes of Front 242 tracks.\r\nThe 4 original members of the band reunite in 1997 and, with German drummer Tim Kroker, start performing\r\nlive again. Several live albums follow, capturing the energy and reflecting the numerous changes brought in\r\nby the versions being performed on stage.\r\nAfter a long studio absence, the EP \u00ab Still & Raw \u00bb and the Album \u00ab Pulse \u00bb come out in 2003. These records,\r\nbased on aesthetics of the 70\u2019s and 80\u2019s. Here, Front242 re-creates the original sound that was at the center\r\nof its art, enriched by 20 years of experience : analogue technologies and vintage machines pulsing into\r\ndeconstructed tracks where emotion and research are still conveyed by a purely electronic attitude.\r\nHaving re-released their backcatalogue in newer, enriched versions, and breaking from the idea that every\r\nlive campaign must necessarily be preceeded by a new album, Front 242 currently continue playing\r\nthroughout the world with the same level of intensity, with the same success as ever, followed and cheered\r\nby crowds of loyal fans celebrating the band\u2019s uniqueness and renowned integrity.\r\n
