These behind the wheel moments are what Drove wants their music not only to soundtrack, but to emulate.\r\n\r\n\u201cSome music makes you want to pump the gas and other music makes you want to chill out and enjoy the view,\u201d says Drove\u2019s Teun Wouters, \u201cbut in the car, music hits different.\u201d\r\n\r\n&nbsp;\r\n\r\nAfter meeting while attending nearby high schools in their native Den Helder,\u00a0 the Dutch duo \u2013 Wouters and Eli Salomons \u2013 bonded over a shared love of music, albeit different flavors of it. \u201cI had only made music before with a band \u201d says Wouters. \u201cEli, on the other hand, had only produced electronic music from a laptop\u201d.\r\n\r\n&nbsp;\r\n\r\nAfter casually making music together for a few years, the guys got serious during the pandemic, developing their sound in the studio amidst lockdowns. This period was crucial, offering uninterrupted time to experiment with melding electronic productions and live elements, a process that ultimately created the dreamy, transportive style that\u2019s become their calling card. In those claustrophobic days of the pandemic, this music felt to them like the freedom of a full tank of gas. Road-testing new tracks also become a key part of their process, hence the name Drove.\r\n\r\n&nbsp;\r\n\r\n\u201cAs soon as we're done making a song,\u201d Salomons says, \u201cwe always get in the car, crank the volume and experience the song while driving.\u201d\r\n\r\n&nbsp;\r\n\r\nDrove was soon off to the races \u2013 landing their first release with STMPD, the label from Dutch powerhouse Martin Garrix. Simultaneously, one of their demos reached Dillon Francis, who became their collaborator on the sexy, thumping \u201cPlaces,\u201d from Drove\u2019s 2021 debut EP Dusk. Since its release, the song has been streamed nearly nine million times on Spotify alone.\r\n\r\nReleased via STMPD, Dusk and follow up EP Dawn created the momentum that earned Drove marquee bookings when live events resumed. Suddenly, Wouters and Salomons went from their tiny studio to some of the dance scene\u2019s most prestigious stages, including Tomorrowland in Belgium, Creamfields in the U.K., a New Year\u2019s Eve set in Goa, India and Ibiza\u2019s club mecca Ushua\u00efa.\r\n\r\n&nbsp;\r\n\r\nThese on the road experiences have all inspired Drove\u2019s 2023 EP \"Take Me Somewhere\", which released on Kygo's Palm Tree Records, accompanied by a live performance video recorded in Barcelona. A year later in 2024 the duo released their fifth EP \u201cA Moment In Time\u201d, capturing a fleeting moment made permanent. The EP contains collaborations with longtime collaborator Dillon Francis, Lilly Ahlberg and Boo Seeka.\r\n\r\n&nbsp;\r\n\r\nIn between releasing original music, the duo has been ranking up an impressive list of official remixes for the likes of P!NK, Kane Brown, Zerb &amp; The Chainsmokers and Kygo &amp; HAYLA.\r\n\r\n&nbsp;\r\n\r\nNow, in 2025, it\u2019s time for the next journey.
