HOT8BRASS BAND
Drawing inspiration from the traditional jazz heritage of their hometown of New Orleans, the Hot 8 Brass Band is renowned for including elements of funk, hip-hop, rap and its local variant, “bounce”, in its music. The collective won the 64th Grammy Awards 2022 for its entry in John Batiste’s “Album of the Year”, following the nomination of its album “The Life & Times Of…” in the “Best Regional Roots Music Album” category in 2013.
Transcending genres and trends, Hot 8 has performed and collaborated with artists such as Jon Batiste, Blind Boys of Alabama, Basement Jaxx and Alice Russell, and opened for Mos Def, Lauryn Hill and Mary J Blige. Since their inception, they have established a ten-year affiliation with actor and BBC 6Music DJ Craig Charles, as well as other entertainment personalities, DJs and journalists from around the world. After a festive Live at Maida Vale appearance for Lauren Laverne (BBC 6 Music), the Hot 8 Brass Band performed on Jools Holland’s annual Hootenanny show on BBC Two to welcome 2019. Later in the year, after taking to the stage at the BRIT awards in February, Hot 8 Brass Band was invited to take part in the European leg of George Ezra’s tour.
