Rock, but more. Revealed a few seasons ago thanks to the abrasive potential of their riffs, the duo formed by Maëva and Hugo are imposing their unique musical style in France, as well as their insolent ease in handling the French language, thanks to their stunning debut album, 11 :11. In 2019, it’s the first concert, the first video clip, the first studio sessions. The Bandit Bandit name was born during a photo shoot with a friend, in a desert setting, decked out in scarves, santiags and pistols. As for the repetition, it’s to better underline the duality of the project, which quickly found its audience, thanks to hard-hitting tracks such as “Maux”, the first written in French, and an imagination that prompted the press to dub them the Bonnie and Clyde of rock.

After two electrifying EPs, Bandit Bandit and Tachycardie, the duo set out to “go beyond rock” on 11:11, produced by Azzedine Djelil (Rita Mitsouko, Catherine Ringer, Minuit, Lulu Van Trapp…). To mix genres, to cultivate the pop field in all its amplitude, with a common thread between raw rock and more sophisticated alternative. Hitherto self-centred and cathartic, Bandit Bandit’s lyrics remain intimate on 11:11, while at the same time proving to be political, free of modesty and playing with words. Their unbridled music resonates strongly throughout an album consumed by a desire as insatiable as it is contagious.
